Die Studentenvereinigung UNEL rief am vergangenen Samstag zu einer Mahnwache in Luxemburg-Stadt auf. Diese Aktion sollte auf die Menschrechtsverletzungen im Iran aufmerksam machen. Rund 50 Personen drückten ihre Solidarität gegenüber der iranischen Protestbewegung aus.

Climate Justice Action, an international coalition of grass-roots organisations, representing the voices of those marginalised from the UN process (indigenous rights activists, farmers movements and environmentalists) reports illegal, “preventive”arrests in Copenhagen.
According to Kamille Hjuler, representing the network: “There is more and more willingness to trample over people’s civil liberties in order to stop
the mass civil disobedience that will take place at the summit on Wednesday. These are yet more attempts by the UN to silence any criticisms of the COP process, whether from inside or outside.”

Against all the opinion polls, the proposal of the extreme right to ban construction of minarets in the Swiss territory was the winner of the referendum and obtained about one and a half million of votes.

Com o número cada vez maior de desempregados e vãs promessas de um currículo impressionante, cada vez mais organizações que se dizem defensoras dos direitos humanos e não só, se esquecem de cumprir os direitos económicos de uma grande parte da população: os jovens qualificados em busca de emprego.
Os estágios não remunerados parecem ter vindo para ficar! Este mercado parece disseminar-se e fazer-se sentir sobretudo na área das ciências sociais e humanidades, área que os jovens se devem sentir tão agradecidos por ser empregues que até trabalham de graça.

The unpaid internships seem to have come to stay! This market seems to spread and be felt mainly in the social sciences and humanities, an area that young people should feel so grateful to be employed that they should work for free.
Joe Glenton, British soldier who refuses to serve in Afghanistan
Joe Glenton, 27, British soldier who deserted the army and refused to return to Afghanistan, has been arrested and charged with six offenses. Among others, he has been accused of leading an anti-war demonstration in London, 24th October.
The British refusenik is facing 14 years of prison, four years for desertion and ten years for other charges. Joe’s mother, Sue Glenton, in opposing his arrest said: “You’ve got government ministers, army commanders and MPs speaking every day in support of the war. What’s so scary about a Lance Corporal having his say? My son is only speaking out for what he thinks is right.”

Une centaine de personnes se sont rassemblés hier pour exprimer leur solidarité avec les réfugiés(e)s expulsé(e)s. Un geste qui compte beaucoup, mais il en faut plus.
Le même mois quand le Ministère de la Famille et d’Immigration célèbre le 20e anniversaire de la convention internationale de droits des enfants, le Ministère d’Affaires Etrangères et l’Immigration fait expulser un groupe des personnes issues de minorités ethniques du Kosovo, dont des enfants d’ école primaire à Useldange.

Sous le prétexte du combat du terrorisme, le gouvernement a, ces dernières années, pris des mesures restreignant de manière significative la liberté, le droit à l’information et la vie privée des citoyens. Parmi ces mesures, on citera notamment la surveillance vidéo, l’enregistrement pendant 12 mois des données de télécommunication, le passeport biométrique ou encore la gestion coordonnée de bases de données centrales (?). Il ne s’agit là que des premiers pas vers le citoyen transparent, minant la liberté individuelle.

Unter dem Vorwand der Terrorismusbekämpfung wurden in den letzen Jahren einige staatliche Maßnahmen ergriffen, welche, Freiheit und das Recht auf informationelle Selbstbestimmung und Privatsphäre wesentlich einschränkten. Zu diesen Maßnahmen gehören, unter anderem, die öffentliche Kameraüberwachung, die Speicherung von Telekommunikationsdaten während 12 Monaten, der biometrische Pass, sowie die Vernetzung zentraler Verwaltungsdatenbanken. Dies sind nur die ersten Schritte auf dem Weg zum gläsernen Bürger und der Unterminierung der individuellen Privatsphäre.
