Mit der Fußball-Weltmeisterschaft (der Herren!) und der Tour de France sind die größten Sportereignisse des Sommers vorbei. Jetzt heißt es wieder selbst schwitzen, anstatt anderen beim schwitzen zuzusehen! Oder aber die neue Queesch lesen! Sport ist das Thema der neusten Ausgabe. Wir beleuchten die sozialen und politischen Komponenten von Sport, berichten über die Rahmenbedinungen der WM in Südafrika, erfahren was Hacken mit Sport zu tun hat und fragen uns, wieso es keine (offenen) schwulen Fußballspieler gibt. Dear Queesch friends,
Due to different personal situations of members of the Queesch collective (pregnancy, hospitalisation, technical problem,…) we will have a hard time to do the layout of the Queesch Nr23 with “Sports” as main theme. The aim is to have it done in the next two weeks in order to publish it in june.
Therefor we are looking for any volunteer help, professional or amateur, in order to layout the one or the other article of the upcoming Queesch issue. We have a template, so the basic work is done, so it mainly means putting the texts and images in that form, adjusting everything, maybe finding more illustration material and than there is artistical freedom to get more creative but we are already happy with a very basic layout. Technical info: we use InDesign but we can also integrate trough high quality images or PDF’s articles layouted in other programs.
So please let us know if you would be ready layouting one or the other article in the next two weeks and we will send you the template and the text.
We offer for every layouted article one queesch issue for free, you can choose if it a recent, old or upcoming one. So 4 layouted articles would be a free subscription :) We are open for negociation, the only thing we can’t give is money, as we only have some left for printing the mag.

The Queesch #23 “Sports” will probably be delayed due to special circumstances of vital members of our team. We have to take the pressure out, there are far more important things going on. We will do what we can to get it out until the football world cup. YOU can also come along to the Infoladen and support the Queesch in this special moment with what you think and what you can do. La prochaine Queesch est prévue pour début juin sur le “Sport”, ci-joint l’appel aux contributions:
Dans environ trois mois aura lieu la 19-ème FIFA Coupe du Monde de football en Afrique du Sud. Pour cet évènement majeur le magazine Queesch vous proposera un dossier traitant du sport en général. Nous allons essayer d’élaborer ce sujet à travers de différents regards critiques, en montrant les revers des histoires de succès. La pratique du sport n’inclut non seulement la réussite lors des compétitions, mais en même temps des liens bien plus complexes entre ces dernières, le commerce et la politique. De même, l’exploit permanent du corps, le dopage, la spirale concurrentielle et le racisme pratiqué par de nombreux fans ne font qu’écorcher l’image de ce monde glamoureux. Cependant, nous voudrions également présenter quelques alternatives au sport professionnel comme p. ex. le développement de jeux non compétitifs ou bien le fait de s’en servir comme moyen d’insertion sociale.
Si vous êtes intéressés par ces sujets, nous vous invitons à nous faire parvenir votre contribution, ceci au plus tard jusqu’au 15 avril, sur les adresses e-mail suivantes : info@queesch.lu ou natalia@queesch.lu.
Nous acceptons également les contributions sans rapport direct avec le sujet du dossier: thèmes d’actualité, critiques, humoristes analytiques ou de reportages, de préférence couvrant les questions liées aux mouvements sociaux, qui ne reçoivent pas beaucoup d’attention dans les médias dominants.

Piracy will be the leading theme of the new Queesch, nr 22. As usually, we want to give our readers a possibility to keep or get in touch with a variety of ideas, information opinions and analysis approaching the subject from different leftist perspectives.
Who are modern pirates? In whose interests do they act? Are their illegal actions justifiable from the social point of view?
The pirates in Somalia, piracy in Internet, pirate radios, corporate and state-sponsored piracy, modern pirate utopias, pirate women – different contexts, different stories, all important to understand the modern forms of underground politics.
As always, Queesch is open to participation of engaged authors and/or translators. The deadline for texts is 15th of January. We welcome not only texts related with the main topic, but also those expressing the authors’ views on other political/social/cultural issues. Das Dossier der Queesch Nr. 21 beschäftigt sich mit dem Thema Wohnen und Leben.
Die neusten Entwicklungen auf dem Wohnungsmarkt in Luxemburg sind nicht gerade rosig. Wohnungen sind teuer, Baugrund unbezahlbar und der Traum vom Eigenheim bleibt wohl oft ein Luftschloss. Einige Leute haben das Problem in ihre eigenen Hände genommen und das Squat “Kapitel 2″ gegründet. Grund genug für uns, uns in der nächsten Queesch mit dem Thema Wohnen und Leben zu beschäftigen. Deshalb suchen wir interessierte Schreiberlinge, die Lust haben, sich mit diesem Thema auseinander zu setzen. Besonders sind wir an Erfahrungsberichten aus (luxemburgischen) Squats – früher, heute, bald – sowie an Analysen über die Problematik des luxemburgischen Wohnungsmarktes interessiert.
