Am 8. März jährte sich der Internationale Frauentag zum hundertsten Mal und noch immer müssen Frauen kämpfen – in vielen Fällen noch immer mit den gleichen Forderungen wie 1911.
Einige hundert Frauen und Männer begaben sich am Dienstag vor das Parlament, es muss ein Zeichen gesetzt werden – nicht nur für die Politik.
Jede der Vereinigungen hatte recht spezifische Forderungen aufzuweisen, “denn die Gleichstellung ist in der Praxis noch nicht erreicht”. (more…)

Sexistische Werbung stellt Wirksamkeit von freiwilligen Selbstverpflichtungen des Werbesektors in Frage

Das Fraueninformationszentrum Cid -femmes hat diese Woche bei der “Commission luxembourgeoise pour l’éthique en publicité (CLEP)” Beschwerde gegen die sexistische Werbung der Firma Decorzenter Geimer SA eingelegt.
Die CLEP wird aufgefordert, sich im Rahmen ihrer Kontroll- und Aufsichtsverpflichtung dafür einzusetzen, dass diese diskriminierende Werbung umgehend abgesetzt wird. Gleichzeitig verlangt das Cid-femmes von der CLEP bei der Auftrag gebenden Firma sowie beim Point 24 auf die Einhaltung deontologischer Kriterien zu drängen. Eine Beschwerde, die das Cid-femmes direkt an die Firma richtete, blieb bislang ohne Reaktion.
Der Fall stellt erneut die Wirksamkeit freiwilliger Selbstverpflichtungen des Werbe- und Mediensektors in Frage.

Queesch is not only a magazine and a homepage – From the 1st of February on Queesch FM is going on air

As the new Queesch is about Feminism, the main topic of our first emission will be the same one. We try to give different views of people concerning the equality of women and men and provide some information about the Women’s Liberation Movement in Luxembourg from its beginning to its institutionalisation nowadays.
In addition, the new Center for Ecological Learning Luxembourg (CELL) will be presented, accompanied by some Queesch News around the World and the Queesch’s Story itself and of course music – with only female voices for your ears.

So join us on Tuesday, the 1st of February at 2pm on Graffiti/ Radio ARA (103.3 & 105,2 FM or as Live Stream )

Une pétition contre le projet de réforme de la loi sur interruption de la grossesse a été lancé le mercredi, 3 Mars, par collectif “Si, je veux – pour l’autodetermination de la femme”. Dans deux jours la petition a été déjà signé par 217 personnes.

Selon le collectif, qui rassemble des personnes privées, des organisations de femmes, des groupes autodeterminés et des sections jeunes de partis politiques, la réforme proposée par le ministre de la Justice Biltgen, “ne réforme rien et s’efforce de maintenir un climat de bigoterie et d’hypocrisie, l’accusation de la femme et des obstacles à l’interruption volontaire d’une grossesse non désirée”.

The logo of the group commemorates the badge LGBTs were forced to wear in Nazi Genocide Camps

Black Pink Triangle Association in Izmir is the fifth LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) organization that faces closure threat from the Turkish government. The first hearing will take place on February 9, 2010. The reason for closure threat is once again being “against the law and morality.”

The association members stated that: “The prosecutor’s demand for closure of our association is clearly a violation of civil rights. Establishing an organization is a constitutional right and they want to take that right from us.”
