Mogwai, March 13th @ Atelier

They started influenced by bands like Pixies or Sonic Youth, but in 15 years created a cult on their own. Now, Mogwai are touring around the globe – with four months of non-stop live shows. In both Cologne and Berlin, the concerts were just moved to bigger venues, as they became sold out way too early.

“Stunningly dynamic…[shifting] seamlessly from tranquil, bleakly beautiful soundscapes to brain scrambling white noise and sledgehammer riffing”, it is how their first record was described in 97. Post-rock, shoegazing, introspective, math rock, art rock… definition attempts keep coming up.

The five Scottish musicians typically compose lengthy guitar-based instrumental pieces that feature dynamic contrast, melodic bass guitar lines, and heavy use of distortion and effects. They are hitting Luxembourg on March 13th (Atelier) to present us their latest record : “Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will”.
